Helly Hansen Lifa Merino Seamless Base Layer: Comfort and Performance

Share

Helly Hansen’s base layers are arguably the best performing base layers on the market – as backed by polar explorer, Eric Larsen, former Olympic big mountain skier, Kaylin Richardson, and me (as well as others). The new series of Lifa Merino Seamless base layers introduced in 2017 combine Helly Hansen’s proprietary Lifa fibers, which are hydrophobic and therefore move moisture away from the body, and 100% Merino wool to help keep you warm. What does this mean? You have a thin base layer that’s surprisingly warm due to the wool, pushes sweat and moisture away from your skin because science (Lifa), and has minimal seams, so it’s super comfortable during all sorts of movements, activities, and layering. Whether I’m skiing, ice climbing, hiking, snowshoeing, or hardcore après-ing, this is always my go-to layer now, where others can feel a bit too bulky, too thin, or too restricting. My top priority during any outdoor activity is to be comfortable and these new layers have stepped up the comfort game.
